Sony Playstation 5 (PS5) Reveal Event - Important Highlights
Sony Playstation 5 (PS5) Reveal Event - Here's what happened
Finally the wait is over, Sony have revealed their all new upcoming Playstation 5 this Thursday and it was something the fans didn't quite expect and I am talking about the overall futuristic looking design of this gaming console. I think the PS5 looks pretty cool and really differentiates itself from the Xbox Series X, it was something like what people thought future consoles would look like in say... 2007. There are still a lot of questions regarding it, mainly the price. There were rumors before that it would cost $600 but now I am seeing people telling it may cost $700-800 which is pretty high.
Yes it's confirmed though that this console will release later this year only, more likely in November or December. Playstation 5 will take console gaming to the next level and bring next generation gaming quality to the consoles. Many people are very happy with the overall design and the games they showed in their event. Some great exclusive games too. There will be two version of Playstation 5, one will allow you to insert disc and play which is traditional and the other is a digital version. It will obviously be cheaper and you can only play games digitally. You can't insert Blu-Ray discs. Take a look at the PS5 family below:
The PS5 will have DualSense wireless controller and DualSense Charging station which will allow you to charge your controllers (two controllers) at the same time without having to plug in. That's wireless charging technology here. Also there controllers will have adaptive triggers which will offer more meaningful feedback when you will play games. PS5 will also have a HD camera and PULSE 3D wireless headset with a media remote. Now there are questions if these will be sold separately or will come along with the console. My guess is obviously sold separately.
Talking about the console specs:
Powered by AMD Zen 2-based CPU having 8 cores @ 3.5Hz
GPU: 10.28 Teraflops (TFLOPs) 36 CUs @ 2.23GHz having Custom RDNA 2 architecture
Both CPU and GPU will offer variable frequencies
Memory (RAM): 16GB GDDR6 (256-bit) having 448GB/s memory bandwidth
It will have 825GB SSD with IO throughput: 5.5GB/s at raw and 8-9GB/s at compressed
You will be able to expand the storage as it has NVMe SSD slot
You can also expand the storage through USB HDD but it will only support PS4 games
and of course 4k UHD Blu-ray drive
Talking about the games announced during the event. I am just listing the games here and not going in detail. Here they are:
1. Spider-Man: Miles Morales
2. Grand Theft Auto 5 Enhanced Edition
3. Gran Turismo 7
4. Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart
5. Project Athia
6. Stray
7. Returnal
8. Sackboy: A Big Adventure
9. Destruction Allstars
10. Kena: Bridge of Spirits
11. Oddworld: Soulstorm
12. Goodbye Volcano High
13. Ghostwire: Tokyo
14. Jett: The Far Shore
15. Godfall
16. Solar Ash

21. Bugsnax
22. Demon's Souls
23. Deathloop
24. Pragmata
25. Resident Evil 8: Village

Now that's a lot of games announced, not all of them are PS5 exclusives though.
Playstation 5 has really given Xbox Series X a tough competition now after this reveal not gonna lie and I am a Xbox One gamer. But it's amazing honestly seeing gaming industry moving a step forward. I love both gaming console companies.
These are basically the important highlights from the PS5 event. Happy gaming!
