Xbox Series X - Here's what you need to know about Next Generation of Console Gaming! 

 It's 2020 and it is the year when we will finally see consoles moving into the next generation of gaming. Xbox is launching its upcoming console Xbox Series X at the end of this year, most likely at the end of November 2020 or early December 2020. There have been a lot of rumors and leaks about this and a lot of news from Microsoft Xbox themselves. Here are some of the important things about this gaming beast:

There were rumors that the launch of Xbox Series X may be pushed to 2021 because of the Covid-19 Pandemic but it is confirmed now, by Microsoft's CEO Satya Nadella that they will launch it this year only. Yes it is true that they are facing some problems with the production but still everything is on track. It is a very good news for the gamers who are excited to get hands on this. But Covid-19 is surely impacting the video games industry and it may lead the delay the release of many upcoming games and games that are specially being made for the Xbox Series X like Halo Infinite, there is still no launch date announced for the upcoming Halo game.



Here are the specifications of Series X:
It is powered by 8 AMD Zen 2 CPU Cores and is 3.8 GHz without SMT enabled and 3.6 GHz with SMT enabled. 7 cores will be mainly for the games you play and 1 core will be for the things you do outside gaming like for the OS and basic functioning of the console.

For the graphics (GPU) power, it has twice the power of the Xbox One X which is currently the most powerful gaming console right now. Twice. And 8 times the GPU power compared to the original Xbox One. Xbox Series X has built in Ray Tracing technology which is amazing. It is powered by the AMD RDNA 2.0 Graphics Card by the way and is about ~12 TFLOPS (Tera Flops)

About the Memory or RAM, it has 16GB GDDR6 Memory. Now the memory can be divided into three parts specially used for different functions. 10GB @ 560GB/s is given for mainly gaming or GPU Optimal Memory. 3.5GB @ 336GB/s as Standard Memory and 2.5GB @ 336GB/s is reserved for the Xbox Operating System. Its not like they are fixed but can be changed as per the game requirements giving the developers more options.

Now talking about the Hard Drive storage and it is not powered by a HDD but SSD. It has 1TB Custom PCIe 4.0 SSD capable of 2.4GB/s (at RAW) and 4.8GB/s (at Compressed). It is very optimized for the console and future games. You can buy external SSD built for Xbox Series X if you want more storage. They are small and are like memory chips.

The loading times in games are very much decreased in this new console, for example Gears 5 can be loaded four times faster than the Xbox One and another game was tested which is State of Decay 2, the game was loaded within 11 seconds which is 40 seconds faster than the Xbox One X. Now these games aren't even made or optimized for Xbox Series X but still doing great, it is amazing. You can load multiple games on your console and switch them, they won't take more than 3-4 seconds to load back. That's how fast Xbox Series X is.

There are much more improvements like you can play games at 8k resolution with 120 FPS (frames per second) and 4k games at 60 frame per seconds. Microsoft is planning to take Xbox Game Pass to the next level as well, adding more amazing games and ways. Xbox is also giving the video game developers new options on how they will develop game for the next generation of gaming, you will be able to buy one game and run it on Xbox One, One S, One X and the Series X at the same time. You will not have to buy it over again. There will also be thousands of games available at the launch to play by using backwards compatibility. You will be able to play your favorite Xbox One games on the Series X easily.

Xbox Series X is going to be huge and amazing!
